Curriculum Image-Guided and Adaptive Radiation Therapy (HOC)

Interactive teaching sessions, focused on practical clinical situations, are an important part of the course and various experts from renowned RT departments will share their experience in IGART for various clinical sites. The core parts of the module are practical hands-on sessions for the participants and demonstrations by experienced users. The following topics will be covered:

  • The application of 'image fusion'
  • The principles of in-room IGART
  • IGRT- and adaptive workflows
  • Outlines and plan assessment
  • 4D motion management techniques
  • Possibilities and limitations of the various in-room IGART-techniques
  • Multimodal imaging

Organizers and teachers

The module is organized by the Inholland Academy and the Inholland University Medical Technology research group. The course director is Monica Buijs. The teaching faculty consists of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, medical engineers, and RTTs from various centers in The Netherlands. The sessions and demonstrations will take place at the Inholland University of Applied Sciences and at various radiotherapy departments in the Netherlands. During this post-graduate module, you will visit the Cyberknife in Rotterdam, MRI linac in Utrecht, Viewray in the VUmc and the gamma knife in the NKi-AvL in Amsterdam. Also a Varian and XVI demo with hands on sessions from clinical experts!
