
To study at Inholland, you'll need to read academic texts, understand lectures, participate in discussions, and complete written work in English. To ensure you'll succeed in your degree programme, you'll need to provide proof that your English language skills meet the English language requirements.
IELTS certificates (academic level) will be accepted with an overall score of 6.0 or higher for writing, reading, listening and speaking. Go to IELTS.org for more information on the test and test locations. Please note: At this time, the online IELTS test is not included in the Code of Conduct for international students. Therefore, we cannot accept the online IELTS test as proof of the proficiency in English.
TOEIC certificates will be accepted with a minimum overall score of 670 for listening and reading and a minimum of 290 for speaking and writing. Go to ETS.org for more information on the test and test locations.
TOEFL certificates (a TOEFL iBT 80 - Internet Based Test) will be accepted with a minimum overall score of 80 on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Go to ETS.org for more information on the test and test locations. You can temporarily take the TOEFL exam online. Find out whether this is possible in your country and go to the website for more information.
Please note: The iBT Home Edition test is currently not included in the Code of Conduct for international students. Therefore, we cannot accept this test as proof of proficiency in English.
Cambridge certificates will be accepted with a Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE), Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) with a minimum score of C (169-172). The LanguageCert Academic certificates will be accepted with a minimum overall score of 65 on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Go to languagecert.org for more information on the test and test locations.

The Pearson PTE Academic certificates will be accepted with a minimum overall score of 61 on reading, writing, listening and speaking. Go to pearsonpte.com for more information on the test and test locations.

Applicants with a havo or vwo diploma must have obtained a passing grade in English.
You are exempt from proving your English proficiency if you:
are a native speaker and have completed secondary education in one of the following countries: UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand;
have obtained a South African National Senior Certificate with a minimum score of 5 for English;
have a European Baccalaureate with English as the medium of instruction and a minimum score of 6 for English;
have an International Baccalaureate with English as the medium of instruction and a minimum score of 4 for English;
have a GCE or GCSE with an A, B or C for English, examined by British examining boards such as Edexcel, Cambridge or OCR;
already have a diploma validation from Inholland University of Applied Sciences, which confirms that your prior education meets our language standards.

Planning to study a Dutch-taught bachelor's programme at Inholland? Then you must have passed all four components of the State Exam Nt2 before the start date of your chosen programme.

Inholland does not offer the NT2 exams directly. However, if you want to study a Dutch-taught bachelor’s degree with us, you must have passed all four components of the State Exam NT2 by 1 September at the latest. Find out more about the NT2 exam.
You cannot take the IELTS or TOEFL test at Inholland. Please check the official IELTS and TOEFL websites for test locations near you.
If you have completed the last three years of your education in an English-speaking country and obtained an official diploma, you may be exempt from the language requirements. However, Inholland will need to review your diploma and transcript before granting an exemption for English.
