Rent a room in Haarlem

Long term stay in Haarlem

Looking for housing as a degree student, which means you will be studying at Inholland for four years to obtain a full Bachelor's degree.

The rooms

At Schoonzichtlaan, when renting a single room, you have your own bedroom in a six- or eight-room apartment. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with toilet. The living room and kitchen are shared.

You may also rent a shared room. In that case, the bedroom, bathroom and toilet are shared with one other student. You will share the living room and kitchen with all students in the apartment.
All rooms are furnished, designated for students from abroad. For a list of the inventory, please check the website of DUWO.

The apartments are usually mixed-gender (male and female students in 1 apartment), but the shared bedrooms are always either male or female, so not mixed-gender.

Prices for 2024-2025
The rent prices differ per type of room, but always include gas, water, electricity, local taxes, tv and wired internet.

  • A single room (own bedroom and bathroom, with shared kitchen): €619,66 to €687,17 per month.
  • A shared room (shared bedroom and bathroom, with shared kitchen): €438,73 per month per person (maximum 2 persons per bedroom).

More information about the rooms, inventory and payments you can find here.

The location

Inholland Haarlem has a spacious and modern student accommodation at Schoonzichtlaan next to the university campus. All residences have a communal kitchen, living room with TV, a lift, a laundry area with two washing machines and two dryers, and a roof patio. The rooms are furnished with a bed and mattress, sheets, wardrobe, desk, chair, lamps, fridge, cooker, and table with chairs. Please note that the standard internet is available through a LAN cable, but there is no WiFi. If you want to use the LAN connection on your laptop, make sure you bring your own router.

Schoonzichtlaan is five minutes’ walk from the Overveen train station and Overveen shops, including a supermarket. The bus stop is around the corner from the apartment building and takes you to the city centre of Haarlem in approximately 10 minutes by bus or approximately 15 minutes by bicycle.

How to apply

Please note: We only have a very limited number of rooms available. Please check our website for alternative options for housing.

Exchange students who have applied for Spring semester 2024/25 will receive a message from the International Office about applying for student housing.

Unfortunately, we do not have enough rooms for other students (Bachelor/higher year) to apply in upcoming Spring semester, therefore the Forms below is closed. We recommend you to search for a room yourself with help of the websites and tips we have stated on our housing page.

Long term options (recommended)

In case you are looking for student housing and will be studying in Haarlem for a full four-year bachelor degree programme, we strongly advise you to register with ROOM. That is the website of Duwo, the housing corporation we work with.

They also offer rooms next to Inholland Haarlem, at Schoonzichtlaan, but unfurnished and you can stay in those rooms as long as you are a student. With these rooms, you do not have to leave after the first year.

Please register at ROOM and indicate you are an Inholland international student.
You can apply for rooms at these addresses:
- Schoonzichtlaan, Haarlem (next to the school)
- Opaallaan, Hoofddorp (Haarlemmermeer, close to Haarlem)

Please make sure you register with ROOM at least three months before arrival and keep checking the rooms on offer regularly.

We recommend that you register with Studentenwoningweb as soon as you arrive in the Netherlands. This is important, because student rooms are very scarce and there is a long waiting list! When your first year is over and the lease of the initial room from Duwo you may have had ends, you may be eligible for student accommodation through Studentenwoningweb.

After your first year

After your first year

You can only book a room through Inholland with DUWO for one year maximum. That means that you will have to find your own room after the first year.

You can register for another room via DUWO after your rental period via Inholland has ended. To do so, you have to contact the customer service of ROOM (the DUWO booking platform). You can ask them to change your account into a regular account. With this regular account, you can respond to other ROOM housing offers.

You can already do so when you have a signed rental agreement. This way you are registered for the waiting list as early as possible. The longer you have been registered, the bigger the chance of finding a room.

Please note that in this case, Inholland no longer mediates between you and DUWO, and you have to apply directly on the ROOM website.
