TUI benefits from innovative Inholland’s Tourism Management students

Inholland University of Applied Sciences has reached a partnership agreement with TUI Netherlands. This gives Tourism Management students the possibility to develop innovative products on behalf of the travel company. Last Tuesday, Arjan Kers (general manager TUI Netherlands) and Simone Groen-Roesink (manager Tourism Management) signed the cooperation agreement during the kick-off of the project ‘Innovation' at Inholland Diemen.

The Innovation project is the first project in which all second-year from all Tourism departments (in Rotterdam, Haarlem and Diemen) take part. Around 280 students attended the kick-off in the central hall where lecturer Gijs de Graaff explained the programme of the day. Suzanne Goossen (manager Business Development & Innovation TUI) held a presentation about the content of this first project.

The project is special because it does not only include all locations, but it is also a result from a previously initiated collaboration between Inholland and TUI Netherlands. Both parties thought it was time to formally ratify this with an agreement. Inholland is the first educational institute with whom TUI engages in such a way. The company will be involved in each stage of the programme by commissioning first and second year projects, offering internship positions in the third year and graduation opportunities in the fourth year. In addition to that, TUI will be more clearly present throughout the full programme in the future.

Creative Future
The collaboration and project seamlessly fit with the Inholland-theme ‘Creative Future’, which has been presented during the opening of the new academic year. It gives our students, pioneers in the creative industry, the chance to develop the skills to create and execute innovative solutions for current and future issues of a real client.

The students ended the day by giving a pitch in front of TUI representatives and Tourism Management lecturers. They were immediately told whether they had a ‘go’ or a ‘no go’ for their project.
