Agriculture and horticulture face major sustainability challenges, such as the energy transition, climate change, loss of biodiversity, water quality and quantity, soil quality, animal health and so on. The problems are urgent, and action needs to be taken now. Again and again, there are new measures that fall outside normal business operations and that the farmer and horticulturist must adhere to. In this paper, we propose an approach to analyze successful circular business models that could potentially be applied to the entire food system. Based on the philosophy that the agricultural sector benefits from public value and entrepreneurship. With the hinting perspective of a further sustainability of agriculture and horticulture in the long-term as an important public value through craftsmanship, strengthening the earning capacity and lots of room for entrepreneurship.
